PCB: Adam Hollioake Appointed as Pakistan Batting Coach leading to Test Tour

Lahore, Pakistan – November 29, 2023: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed former England all-rounder Adam Hollioake as the batting coach for the upcoming Test tour of Australia. Hollioake, 52, will join the new-look coaching staff for the grueling tour Down Under.

The appointment of Hollioake comes after the PCB made significant changes to their coaching staff following the men’s team’s failure to reach the 2023 World Cup final. Captain Babar Azam stepped down voluntarily, and Shan Masood was appointed as the skipper for the Test side. Umar Gul and Saeed Ajmal have been roped in as fast-bowling and spin-bowling coaches, respectively.

Hollioake represented England in four Tests and 35 one-day internationals during his playing career. He is a renowned coach with extensive experience in both domestic and international cricket. He has previously worked with the England Lions squad and was also a member of England’s coaching staff for the final two Ashes Test matches during the 2021-22 series.

Speaking about his appointment, Hollioake said: “I am delighted to be joining the Pakistan coaching staff for the Test tour of Australia. It is a great opportunity to work with some of the most talented batsmen in the world and help them achieve their full potential.”

“I am confident that I can bring a fresh perspective to the batting group and help them develop the skills and strategies they need to succeed in Australia,” he added.

The PCB is hopeful that Hollioake’s experience and expertise will help the Pakistan batsmen overcome the challenges of playing Test cricket in Australia. The three-Test series between Pakistan and Australia is scheduled to start on December 15, 2023.
