Indian all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has reportedly landed in significant legal trouble, with his former player management agency, “Square The One Private Limited,” filing a lawsuit against him over alleged unpaid dues amounting to ₹5 crore. The legal action comes at a challenging time for Reddy, who is currently recovering from a knee injury that ruled him out of the remainder of the ongoing Test series against England.
Breach of Contract and Unpaid Dues
According to reports, the core of the dispute revolves around an alleged breach of the management agreement between Reddy and Square The One. The agency claims to have represented Reddy since 2021, playing a crucial role in building his brand profile and securing numerous endorsement and commercial partnerships before his breakthrough on the international stage, including his rise in the IPL.
Breakdown of the Partnership
The relationship between Reddy and Square The One reportedly deteriorated during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 in Australia, where Reddy made his Test debut. It is alleged that Reddy unilaterally decided to terminate his association with Square The One during this tour and subsequently aligned himself with the manager of another Indian teammate.
Reddy’s Stance and Agency’s Claims
Sources close to the case indicate that Nitish Reddy has refused to pay the outstanding amount, asserting that he personally secured the endorsement deals in question. However, Square The One maintains that they facilitated these deals during their four-year association and are owed their contractual dues.
Legal Proceedings Initiated
Square The One Private Limited has filed a petition under Section 11(6) of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act in the Delhi High Court. The petition seeks the appointment of an independent arbitrator to adjudicate claims related to the alleged unlawful breach of contract and the non-payment of contractual dues by the cricketer.
The Delhi High Court is scheduled to hear the case on July 28, 2025, where the legal battle between the cricketer and his former agency is expected to formally commence.
This legal entanglement adds a layer of complexity to Nitish Reddy’s current challenges. Beyond the ongoing injury recovery, he now faces significant legal and financial consequences that could impact his career, both on and off the field. While most such disputes are resolved privately, Reddy’s firm stance on not paying the amount has led the matter to court.
