Lakshya Sen Shines, Sindhu Stumbles at China Masters

The China Masters Super 750 badminton tournament saw a mixed bag of results for Indian players. While Lakshya Sen advanced to the quarterfinals with an impressive performance, PV Sindhu’s campaign came to an unfortunate end.

Lakshya Sen’s Strong Showing

Lakshya Sen, who narrowly missed a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics, continued his strong form. He dominated his second-round match against Rasmus Gemke of Denmark, winning 21-6, 21-18. Sen’s clinical performance showcased his skill and determination. He will now face either Takuma Obayashi of Japan or Anders Antonsen of Denmark in the quarterfinals.

Sindhu’s Early Exit

Two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu, however, faced disappointment. After a hard-fought victory over Busanan Ongbamrungphan in the first round, Sindhu was unable to overcome Yeo Jia Min of Singapore. The match was a close contest, but Sindhu eventually lost 16-21, 21-17, 21-23.

Other Indian Players

Anupama Upadhyaya and Malvika Bansod also exited the tournament in the second round. Upadhyaya lost to Natsuki Nidaira of Japan, while Bansod was defeated by Supanida Katethong of Thailand.

In the women’s doubles, Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand, the world number 18 pair, were outclassed by the second-seeded Chinese duo of Liu Sheng Shu and Tan Ning.

As the tournament progresses, Indian badminton fans will be hoping for more success from Lakshya Sen and other Indian players.
