Canada has successfully secured its berth in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, to be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, following an unbeaten run in the Americas Regional Qualifier. Their dominant performance sees them become the 13th team to confirm their place in the expanded 20-team tournament.

Canada’s Road to Qualification

Canada, led by Nicholas Kirton, delivered a flawless performance in the Americas Regional Qualifier held in King City, Ontario. They emerged as clear winners, finishing ahead of the Bahamas, Bermuda, and the Cayman Islands.

Their qualification was sealed with a convincing victory over the Bahamas and a favorable outcome in another match, giving them an unassailable lead in the standings. Having participated in the 2024 edition, Canada showcased their growth and determination to return to the global stage.

With Canada now confirmed, the following 13 teams have secured their spots for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026:

  • Top 8 from ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 (excluding hosts): Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, South Africa, United States, West Indies
  • Based on ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings: Ireland, New Zealand, Pakistan
  • Through Regional Qualifiers: Canada (Americas Qualifier)

Remaining Qualification Spots and Upcoming Qualifiers

Out of the 20 available spots for the 2026 tournament, seven remain up for grabs. These will be determined through various Continental Qualifiers scheduled for later this year:

  • Europe Qualifier: Two spots (5–11 July 2025)
  • Africa Qualifier: Two spots (19 September – 4 October 2025)
  • Asia–EAP Qualifier: Three spots (1–17 October 2025)
