Cricket Australia Release five Venues for Test Series Against India

Cricket Australia (CA) recently revealed the venues for the upcoming marquee Test series between India and Australia. This five-match battle is slated for November-December 2024, forming a crucial part of the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 cycle.

Here’s a breakdown of the venues:

  • 1st Test: Optus Stadium, Perth
  • 2nd Test: Adelaide Oval, Adelaide
  • 3rd Test: The Gabba, Brisbane
  • 4th Test (Boxing Day Test): Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), Melbourne
  • 5th Test: Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), Sydney

Perth Gets the Opener:

The opening Test will be played at Perth’s Optus Stadium. This decision comes despite a recent low turnout for a Test match between Australia and Pakistan at the same venue. CA, along with Western Australia’s cricket authorities, are committed to improving attendance for the India clash.

Traditional Venues for the Remaining Matches

The series follows tradition for the remaining matches. Adelaide Oval will host the second Test, most likely a day-night affair. The Gabba in Brisbane takes center stage for the third Test. Cricket lovers can expect the iconic Boxing Day Test to be held at the MCG in Melbourne, followed by the series finale at the historic SCG in Sydney.

Exact Schedule Yet to be Revealed

While the venues are confirmed, CA is yet to announce the detailed match schedule. They are likely to finalize and release it by the end of March.
