Ange Postecoglou: Tottenham will never compromise on their tactics.
Ange Postecoglou has revealed that Tottenham will never compromise on their tactics, even if it means sacrificing results in the short term.
The Australian manager has been praised for his attacking style of play since taking over at Spurs, and he insists that he will not change his philosophy, even if it means losing games.
“We’re not going to change the way we play,” Postecoglou said. “We believe in our style of football, and we believe that it will ultimately be successful. We know that there will be times when we lose games, but we’re prepared to accept that if it means that we’re staying true to our identity.”
Postecoglou’s comments come after Spurs were defeated 3-1 by Chelsea in their Premier League derby on Monday. The defeat ended Spurs’ unbeaten run in the league, and raised questions about Postecoglou’s tactics.
However, Postecoglou remains defiant, and insists that he will not be swayed by outside pressure.
“I know that some people will criticize us when we lose,” he said. “But I’m not going to listen to them. I’m only going to listen to my players and my staff. And we all believe in what we’re doing.”

Postecoglou’s faith in his philosophy is admirable, but it remains to be seen whether it will be enough to deliver success for Spurs. The club has not won a major trophy since 2008, and the fans are becoming increasingly impatient.
If Postecoglou is to win over the fans, he will need to start delivering results on a consistent basis. However, he is not prepared to compromise his principles in order to do so.
“I’m not going to change,” he said. “I’m going to stick to my guns. And I believe that eventually, it will pay off.”
Only time will tell whether Postecoglou’s belief is justified. But one thing is for sure: he is not afraid to take a risk.
